Lawn Care Tips

How Property Photos Help Ley’s Quote Detroit Lawn Care Jobs

Quick answer: Clear property photos can help Ley’s Lawn Care understand the service, access, size, and visible problem before a quote. They do not replace an in-person visit when measurements, safety, utilities, material volume, or hidden conditions still need to be checked.

Photos are useful because “lawn care,” “cleanup,” and “landscaping” can describe very different jobs. A wide photo may show the whole yard, while a close photo can show wet soil, overgrowth, damaged turf, a blocked gutter, or the type of material involved in a cleanout. Together, they help the team ask better questions before scheduling.

The five photos that make a quote clearer

  1. Street-side overview: Show the front of the property without including a house number, license plate, or neighboring people.
  2. Full work area: Step back far enough to show the lawn, bed, yard, driveway, garage, or room that needs service.
  3. Access route: Photograph gates, steps, narrow side yards, slopes, parking limits, and the path equipment or materials would use.
  4. Problem close-up: Add one close view of weeds, standing water, debris, damaged grass, overgrowth, or another condition you want reviewed.
  5. Scale reference: Include a safe reference such as a measuring tape or known-size object when the size is not obvious.

Email original files—never send job photos by SMS or MMS

Send job photos as email attachments to tommy@leyslawncare.com. Choose the original or full-size files when your phone or email app asks. Do not send job images by SMS or MMS: mobile carriers often compress them, which can remove the detail needed to review turf, debris, drainage, access, or damage.

You may still text the office with a text-only question, but photos must be emailed. If the attachments are too large for one message, send multiple numbered emails rather than reducing the image quality.

Label before and after photos in order

If you are emailing photos from more than one job or service date, label them before, during, and after. Add the city and service to the message, such as “Detroit fall cleanup—before” or “Southfield bed edging—after.” Do not send an exact address until the team tells you where it is needed for scheduling.

This order also helps when a customer wants completion photos or a property manager is tracking turnover work. It reduces the chance that an old condition photo is mistaken for the current scope.

What photos can and cannot confirm

Photos can help identify visible conditions, likely access issues, and the right follow-up questions. They usually cannot confirm underground utilities, exact measurements, hidden damage, disposal restrictions, roof safety, soil chemistry, or everything behind dense growth. Some jobs still need an in-person look before the price or schedule can be confirmed.

A local customer publicly praised Ley’s for responding promptly and coming out in person. That is the right expectation to set: photos can speed up the first review, while the team decides whether the property still needs a site visit.

Protect customer and property privacy

  • Keep people, children, and pets out of the frame when possible.
  • Avoid house numbers, mail labels, alarm details, keys, and paperwork.
  • Do not include vehicle plates or identifying documents.
  • Ask permission before submitting photos from a tenant, customer, or neighboring property.
  • Tell the team whether a completed-job photo may be used publicly.

Services that benefit from current photos

Photos are especially useful for recurring lawn maintenance, spring and fall cleanup, landscaping and bed work, gutter cleaning, snow planning, moving access, and property cleanouts. Availability varies by route, timing, property conditions, and the requested scope.

Ley’s serves Detroit and surrounding communities across Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Check the Metro Detroit service-area hub and compare the full service list before sending your request.

What to include with the photos

Send the city, requested service, preferred timing, access notes, and what outcome you want. If there is a deadline, heavy item, steep grade, locked gate, disposal question, pet, tenant, HOA rule, or parking restriction, mention it up front.

Property photo FAQ

Can Ley’s give a final price from photos alone?

Sometimes photos provide enough detail for the first scope review, but the team may still need measurements, more questions, or an in-person visit before confirming price and availability.

Should I send my exact address with the first photos?

Start with the city and service unless the quote form requests the property address. Keep addresses and other personal details out of photos that may later be used for marketing.

Can my before-and-after photos appear on the website?

Only when the business has permission and the images can be published without exposing customer, vehicle, address, or personal-property details.
